Several organizations are concordant bodies of Freemasonry. The most well known branches are Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Shriners. There are also groups for women, girls, and young men.

A man must first be a Master Mason in the Blue Lodge before being allowed to become a member of a concordant body.

Order of the Eastern Star

Order of the Easter Star, OES, is an appendant body of Masonry. Open to both men and women, it was founded by Bro. Robert Morris in the 17th century. Based in the examples of Biblical women, it aspires to do charity in the world while upholding morality, loving kindness, and truth.

We have two chapters in Bakersfield which meet at the Masonic Temple on 18th street.

Eligibility is open to all Master Masons and women who have a relative who was a Master Mason or women who were members of Job’s Daughters or Rainbow Girls.

If you would like to learn more about OES, you can check out the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star website.
